Educational Partnerships - PELA

The College of Saint Elizabeth recognizes that some individuals gain college-level knowledge and competence through learning experiences outside a traditional classroom. College credit may be earned by students who believe they have acquired learning outcomes equivalent to college courses.

PELA (Portfolio Experiential Learning Assessment) credit may be awarded only if specific course outcomes have been achieved, and this can be demonstrated through the student's narrative analysis and compilation of supporting materials in the form of a portfolio.

A "pass" or "fail" grade is given for the portfolio, and the document is retained with the student's file within the program/course of study.

Who We Are

Founded in 1899 by the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, the College of Saint Elizabeth has a strong tradition of concern for the poor, for developing leadership in a spirit of service and social responsibility, and a commitment to the promotion of women as full partners in society.
